Email address update and Archery Trip Headcount PDF Print E-mail

Hello All,

This email includes the most current addresses for Troop #354 members.  To address the entire Troop, simply hit "reply to all", then change the subject matter & proceed with your message.

Please note that we have a new Scout that joined our Troop this week.  Aidan S. is a first year Scout that has joined the Crusader Patrol.  He is a fifth grade student at Upper Moreland Intermediate School & his father is Ted S.  We'll be sure to introduce Aidan to the Troop this Thursday - please make a point to welcome them to Troop #354!!

ARCHERY - To the best of my knowledge, based upon the headcount provided to me on Thursday, the following Scouts have committed to attend the Archery Competition on 5/15/09 thru 5/17/09:
Aidan S., Nate B., Matt H., Tim K., Michael Sn., Dustin W., Colin B., Jeffrey D. (arrive Sat. AM), Connor D., Harry B. (leave Sat. PM), Chris B., Dylan C., Evan D., Dima B., Tyler F., Peter H., Patrick M., & Casey C.

As far as adults, we have:
Mr. Descant, Mr. Gaston, Mr. Clunk, Mr. Bennett, Mr. Hoagland, Mr. Costello, & Mr. Forr.  Unfortunately, Mr. Slugg will not be joining us this year.

If your name is not listed above please contact Harry B. (Treasurer), Jason S. (Scribe), & myself ASAP, so that we can update the headcount.  Obviously, our individual Patrols will require the updated information early on Thursday - for meal planning purposes & for completing Duty Rosters.

Please remember - it is your responsibility to get signed up two weeks prior to an activity (last week) & pay as soon as possible, so that we know you are committed.  For this trip the fee is $25.00.

Everyone should continue to work on Summer Camp MB schedules - they must be completed in less than a month.  To date, I have the First Year Scouts accounted for & two others Scouts (one of those being my son as he has nowhere to hide).  That leaves about 20 Scouts in need of a schedule.  Time is of the essence - so please get busy & see me with your schedule, so we can prepare the Blue Cards & you can begin the pre-requisites

See you all on Thursday!

All,

I've uploaded a icon Communication Merit Badge Status that contains the progress of each scout working on the communication merit badge.  Please take a look at this sheet to determine what additional requirements are needed.

There is a school board meeting on Tuesday, May 5 at 6:45 pm in the Primary school.  For those scouts that need requirement 5, this is a great opportunity to complete the requirement.

Thanks,

Mr. Barber

All,

Quick reminders:
Tomorrow evening (Monday 4/27) we have a Parent Meeting at 7PM

This Thursday (4/30) - 6PM Patrol Leader Council Meeting (Matt H. to confirm via email to PLC members).

Money & headcount is due this week (4/30) for Archery Trip (May 15-17).  The cost of this event is $25.00 per person (add'l $5 to offset costs for targets etc.).

On Saturday (4/25) a large group from from Troop #354 enjoyed a wonderful day of canoeing and kayaking in the NJ Pine Barrens.  Weather was perfect, water conditions were great (albeit slightly cold) and fellowship was plenty.  Better than half of the group spent some time in the water.  Thank you adult leadership for making this trip a reality for the Scouts and thank you Calderwoods for arranging & thank you to our expert guides Mrs. Clunk & Mrs. Goold.

Hope to see you all Monday!!

All,

Joe Soltis provided me an update to share from last weekends backpacking trip.  Joe was joined by Scouts Matthew M., Matthew H., Robert G., Chris B., Connor D., & Jacob S., as well as energetic parents Jim McKenna, Sue Goold, Kevin Dougherty, & Frank Landi.  The group hiked an approximate 4+ mile portion (8+ total) of the Appalachian Trail near the Tri-county Corner Monument in PA.  Weather was perfect, morale was great, blister were few, & the privy was a highlight(??) (ask Joe, as I think he has photos to share!!).

They were the first group into camp, eventually being joined by two other Scout Troops, as well as two long distance Trail hikers.  The two hikers began in Connecticut 22 days prior on a Southbound journey.

Joe is compiling the photos from the trip & we'll get them onto the website soon.

Great job Scouts & thank you adults for providing these Scouts with awesome opportunities!!

See you all Thursday!!!

All,

I trust that everyone enjoyed Easter!

This Thursday will be a busy evening/Troop Meeting.  Friendly reminder to Parents - please bring checkbooks on Thursday!!!

Several of our recently elected Order of the Arrow candidates (Joe R., Peter H., Dustin W., & myself) are meeting at 5:30PM with Jon G. & Mr. Gaston to review expectations for this Weekend's Ordeal at Delmont. Other candidates are encouaged to attend in order to become familiar with Ordeal Program, as well as "packing".   Ordeal Candidates attending need to pay the $28 fee, Brotherhood Candidates attending need to pay $21 fee.

Betweent 7-7:15PM - we will begin the mandatory Summer Camp Meeting for Scouts & Parents. Parents please plan on staying for entire evening, as important information will be shared, along with critical paperwork that needs to be completed & returned.  Please be aware of medical form needs - especially first year Scouts!

Scouts interested in COPE at Summer Camp - you need to decide now, as $20 deposit is due along with application.  Total fee is $40 if you pay on time - $5 late fee if you miss deadline.  It would probably be best to pay the full $40 on Thursday.

Decisions need to be made regarding Summer Camp Merit Badge schedule.  You must decide your schedule before June 13th, as schedules are due ahead of time

Canoe/Kayak sign-up sheet will be available for April 25th trip being arranged by Alec C.  Upon completion of headcount - finances will be determined.

Plans to be finalized for this weekend backpacking trip!!  - Mr. Soltis is the contact person.

The Troop needs a Scout/Adult to take the lead on the Cradle of Liberty Jamboree in Green Lane, PA weekend of May 1st-3rd.  Scouts decided on one day trip (5/2/09) and I am not available - any volunteers - please step up on Thursday!!!

Last and definitely not least - Kevin McKay has volunteered to present information about Friends of Scouting to our Troop on Thursday.  As most of you are aware, Kevin is a new Asst. Scoutmaster with our Troop and he has offered to share information regarding FOS.  Thank you in advance for contributions to FOS & to Kevin McKay for his time!

See you all in few days!!!
