Highlights from Monday's Parent Meeting include the following:
The recent Archery Trip was a success. Thanks to Mr. Mele, the archery equipment performed exceptionally well. The recently purchased new tents were utilized & some of the feedback included that they are more difficult to set up than prior tents and that they may need to be "sealed". It should be noted that the Saturday evening rain storms were very severe & heavy winds likely contributed to the leakage experienced.
The Patrol Cook-off was also a huge success. Chris B. has been doing a great job planning activities for Troop Meetings. Which brings us to a scheduled Troop Picnic/Patrol Competition occurring on Thursday (6/25) at 5:30PM at Lorimer Park. Our troop, along with our families will be having a potluck picnic in lieu of a Troop Meeting at the Church. Please note the earlier start time - so plan ahead. WE WILL HAVE A SIGN-UP SHEET AVAILABLE AT THE FORMAL COURT OF HONOR. Please be sure to sign-up and let us know how many people will be attending & what you plan on bringing. The Troop will provide burgers & hot-dogs - families to provide the sides & desserts. Following dinner, Patrols will be competing for Patrol Points in several categories. Again, thank you Chris B.
Some unfortunate news is that our Gianni's Pizza Fundraiser totals are significantly lower than previous years, despite the fact that our roster has increased significantly. Many Scouts chose not to participate & sales reflect this. Obviously, times and finances are extremely difficult for many of us, but the Troop is dependent upon these finances. In light of this, along with recent feedback from some families, it has been decided that a new committee be formed to explore alternate fund-raising ideas. If you didn't/couldn't participate in the recent Pizza Fundraiser, please expect to participate in this new committee.
Reminder to those that did participate - Pizza Delivery is scheduled for Monday (6/8) at the Betz's home (200 Skrobul Rd). Please see Beth Hoagland's email regarding time.
June Camping at the Rowland Family Camp is scheduled for Father's Day weekend (6/19-6/21). Headcount & money is due this week. Please be sure to sign-up & pay if you plan on attending, as this trip is two weeks away & Patrols need ample time to plan.
Next Thursday (6/11/09) - Formal Court of Honor begins promptly at 7PM. Scouts should arrive by 6:45PM latest to set -up hall. We ask families to provide a dessert/snack. Scouts must be in Full Class A Uniforms - no excuses. Please dig them from your closets & get them cleaned/ironed.
This Thursday (6/4/09) - Patrol Leader Council will be meeting at 6PM - others to arrive at normal time.
I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!!
Oh yea - 5 Scouts still owe me a Summer Camp Merit Badge schedule - I will find you!!!!!

Hi everyone!
A parent's meeting was on the calendar for Monday, May 17. Unfortunately we need to reschedule this meeting. It will now be on Monday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
The Gianni's pizza fundraiser is due back on Thursday, May 28th. Please make arrangements to get your totals to Mrs. Hoagland by then. This is especially important to those going away on the 8th grade trip or that may not be there that night. (contact me via email or drop off at my house). If you could make sure that we receive your fundraiser by then - I won't have to call you to see if you have any sales.
Please total each of your columns and verify your amounts on the sheet. This will help reduce errors before we place the order.
These fundraisers help keep the costs of the troop to a minimum and we appreciate your support in each scout obtaining $500 in sales between the two fundraisers.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me.
Have a great week!

All,
Attached please find the results from this past weekend's Archery Competition. Nate B. finished in first place with Dustin W. taking second & Matt H. placing third. Congratulations Scouts - the scores are awesome.
In addition to the competition, Scouts worked on advancement with Mr. Bennett & I understand it is quite a list of accomplishments - great work Scouts!
Mr. Gaston was quoted a saying - "A GREAT weekend was had by all who attended. The weather was excellent until about 11pm last night when the skies opened and it rained most of the night. Sunday morning was a little wet, but we got the last round in as the weather got better as the morning went on".
Thank you to our adult leaders that made this event a reality - Mr. Mele, Mr. Hoagland, Mr. Gaston, Mr. Bennett, Mr. Stillwell, Mr. Forr, Mr. Dobnak, Mrs. Costello, & Chris Hoagland. Finally, a special thank you to the Descant's for providing the location for this event. Your generosity is always greatly appreciated.
Scouts/Patrols - please remember that this Thursday our Patrol Cook-off Competition will take place. Patrols will be preparing one entree dish & one dessert for judging that will take place promptly at 8PM. If anyone has questions, our ASPL Chris B. should be able to assist, as he deserves the credit for organizing this event - Thanks Chris!
Remember to continue working on Summer Camp Merit Badge schedules & prerequisites, as well as your Gianni's Pizza sales - they are both due in less than 2 weeks!
Yours in Scouting!

All,
Attached please find the completed roster for this weekend's Archery Competition at the Descant's home. The final number of attendees is 23 Scouts. 21 Scouts will be heading up as a Troop on Friday Evening. Two Scouts will be arriving early Saturday morning. We have 22 Scouts returning with the Troop on Sunday morning (one Scout leaving Saturday night).
Everyone should be at the Church Friday evening by 5:45PM - pulling out by 6PM.
Parents need to remain (no drop & runs) until we are pulling out, as transportation is lacking for this trip. We may need to finalize plans before any parent leaves. We may need drivers up on Friday and/or back on Sunday.
Note to new Scouts - on Friday evening all gear should be in your packed bags that are transported in the Troop trailer, with the exception of your flashlight & rain poncho (as needed). You should be wearing boots & appropriate clothing (do not bury your sweatshirts in gear, as you may need it Friday evening during camp set-up. Aidan S. & Evan D. should arrive at tonight's meeting with a packed bag for inspection.
Matt H. is our SPL for this trip. The archery competition is being headed up by Mr. Mele with assistance by all other adult volunteers attending (we need people to score each flight). Mr. Gaston will likely have time available to assist Scouts with advancement - bring your handbooks!!
Tonight's Troop Meeting - Patrols will be working on a meal plan for next week's Troop Cooking Competition. By the end of this evening, each Patrol will need an entree & dessert plan within the $15 budget. Remember - you will be creating two dishes (one entree & one dessert) for leadership judging (you are not feeding your Patrol). This meal must be prepared & cooked within one hour - as judging will take place promptly at 8PM. Patrols will be responsible for kitchen clean-up. If you have additional questions - contact your ASPL Chris B.
High School band members will not be present this evening due to music fest. Looking forward to seeing everyone else tonight!!
