All,

Thank you for participating in last Thursday's Pow-wow.  The input & feedback was very much appreciated and we will continue to move forward, striving to provide the best possible program for our sons!

Yesterday (Sat. Jan 16, 2010) we had approx. 7 or 8 Scouts take advantage of several Eagle Required Merit Badge opportunities presented by Mr. Mele (Personal Management), Mr. Stillwell (Family Life), & Mr. Barber (Communication).  This opportunity will present itself again in the future & I urge Scouts to consider participation.

Several additional follow up items:

Order of the Arrow: Harry B., Michael F., & Patrick M. have an opportunity to include their names in an upcoming O/A Election.  These Scouts meet the eligibility requirements.  Please consider this opportunity to join what is commonly referred to as the Honor Society of Scouting.  If you are interested, please discuss with our O/A Representative (Gavin L.) or myself.

Fundraiser Reward Trip: As discussed, the following 16 Scouts achieved the $500 goal between last Spring's Pizza sales & this Fall's Wreath sales and have an opportunity to participate in a reward trip (yet to be determined):  Nick B., Harry B., Chris B., Alec C., Bryan C., Jeffrey D., Connor D., Tyler F., Michael F., Matthew H., Matthew M., Anthony M., Joe R., Jacob, S., Rob S., & Dustin W.

I strongly recommend that you 16 Scouts get together (soon) to determine a Reward trip - so that plans can be arranged.

Ice Fishing at Resica Falls (Saturday Feb. 13, 2010) - Scouts/parents wanting to participate in this day trip activity should have already contacted Connor Dougherty.  Cost is $10 per person.

Thursday Jan 21, 2010 Troop Meeting - Webelos II Visitation.  All Scouts should arrive by 6:45PM (latest) for set up.  I'm aware of six Webelos II Scouts from Pack #59, I do not have numbers from Pack #554.  Patrols will be running the activities & I urge everyone (Scouts & adults) to make sure that all visitors are welcomed.  Mrs. Hoagland is picking up refreshments.

Thursday Jan 28, 2010 Troop Meeting - PLC to provide update on evening's activities.  Patrols should meet to discuss/determine Patrol Leader candidates (2 per Patrol) for the upcoming election.  Elder Scouts that previously served in Patrol Leader positions may want to consider Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Position.  Our current SPL will choose one of two open ASPL positions, with the 2nd position being elected by fellow Scouts.

Friday/Sat Jan 29/30, 2010 - Robert G. Eagle Project

Thursday Feb 4, 2010 - Troop Meeting - ASPL Elections & Patrol Leader Elections (candidates should have submitted names on Jan 28th).

Sunday Feb 7, 2010 - Scout Sunday - All Scouts to attend in full Class A uniforms

Thursday Feb 11, 2010 - Troop Meeting - PLC to provide update on evening's activities.

Saturday Feb 13, 2010 - Ice Fishing Day Trip to Resica Falls (Connor D.)

Summer Camp Dates/Payment Schedule:
February 18, 2010 - $100.00 deposit is due!! ($300.00 total fee).  We must make deposit for Scouts before March 1st to ensure $300 per Scout fee.

March 18, 2010 - second installment of $100.00 is due.

April 22, 2010 - final installment of $100.00 is due. We must have all Scouts paid in full ($300.00) prior to May 1st to ensure $300 per Scout fee.

All,

A few reminders and an update regarding Saturday Merit Badge opportunities.

Thursday 1/21/10 - Troop Meeting with visit of Webelos II Scouts from local Cub Scout Packs.  We could use a few refreshments for the evening - donations appreciated!

Summer Camp will be Aug. 1 - Aug. 8, 2010 at Resica Falls.  The discounted cost for the week is $300 & we'll need the first deposit likely paid in February. It's time to start getting Medical Forms together!

The following is an email from Mr. Mele regarding an opportunity to begin several Eagle Required Merit Badges.  Parents, please consider the maturity level of your son regarding these Merit Badges.  For instance, Scouts considering Personal Management should be at or near the rank of First Class.  Also, for Personal Fitness this MB badge requires a multiple week (I believe 12 week) fitness program that requires dedication.  On the other side, if your son is active in school sports program - this would be a great opportunity to consider this badge.

Troop 354 stuff! PDF Print E-mail

Hello All,
Last night Jacob S. completed his Formal Eagle Board of Review - Congratulations Jacob on becoming Troop #354's newest Eagle Scout!!!!
Last week Chris B. (your SPL) introduced the new Patrols - for those missing the meeting the Patrols are as follows:
Patrol #1 - Duct Tape Patrol:
Nick B.(ASPL), Nate B.(PL), Bryan C.(PL), Tyler F., Robert G., Gavin L., Josiah M., & Jacob S.
Patrol #2 - Chiefs:
Colin B., Chris B.(SPL), Jeffrey D., Connor D.(PL), Matt M., Rob S.(PL), & Dustin W.
Patrol #3 - Goofy Green Gremlins:
Alec C., Dylan C., Peter H.(PL), Matt H.(ASPL), Tim K.(PL), Patrick M., & Michael Sn.
Patrol #4 - Phoenix:
Harry B., Dima B., Evan D., Michael F., Anthony M., Joe R.(PL), Aidan S., & Jason S.(PL)
The new Patrol names were decided by Patrol members in attendance last week.  All new Patrol members should talk to your "new" Patrol Leaders to make sure that you have accurate contact information.  Please remember that if you are unable to attend a Troop Meeting - you should be contacting one of your two Patrol Leaders to let them know.  The PL then contact the ASPL or SPL to let them know & they update me!!   Many of you are still contacting me instead of your PL.
For this Thursday's Troop Meeting, the following Scouts need only a Scoutmaster Conference and/or a Board of Review for advancement.  I recommend that everyone come prepared (with Scout Handbook) to every meeting - especially if you're looking to  advance:  Dylan C., Tyler F., Michael Sn., Robert S.  Again Scouts - please remember that it is your job to stay on top of your own advancement - this reminder is like a Christmas Gift from your Scoutmaster & Mr. Calderwood (he keeps Troop records up to date & informs me)!
BTW - several other Scouts need only a few items for advancement, so I urge each of you to review your status.
For the Scoutmaster Party on Friday - I have the following Scouts signed-up as attending (if your name is not on this list, please contact me immediately, as I need accurate numbers for ordering pizza).  Scouts signed up for Friday (7PM):
Nick B, Nate B., Bryan C., Tyler F., Jacob S., Colin B., Connor D., Matt M., Rob S., Dustin W., Alec C., Peter H., Tim K., Patrick M., Michael Sn., Harry B., Dima B., Michael F., Anthony M., Joe R., Aidan S., & Jason S.

Finally, below is a list of items being brought to the Scoutmaster Party on Friday - please review & confirm what volunteers are bringing.  If this list is not accurate, please contact Chris B. or myself, as we don't wont to be short on entertainment!!!
Jason S.- Wii
Nate B. - TV & Halo games
Tim K.- Wii Controllers
Peter H.-TV
Dustin W.-2 Wii Wheels
Rob S.-TV
Michael Sn.- TV
Alec C.-TV & Xbox
Joey R.-TV & Xbox Controllers
Colin B.-Xbox
Jacob S.-Xbox
Michael F.-Xbox
Aidan S.-Playstation
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday!!
